LUCQUES. - Componimenti poetici per le nozze de' nobilissimi signori Francesco Paolino Bernardini, ed Anna Maria Parensi. Lucca, Domenico Ciuffetti, 1740. 15 pp. small in-4 (sign. A8); red velvet with silver filigree border, silver angle irons and two silver clasps, metalwork coat of arms in the centre, different on each board, yellow and gold Augsburg paper endpapers (antique binding). Extremely rare occasional booklet published for the wedding of the children of two important families in the Republic of Lucca. Two canzonette and six sonnets celebrate the city of Lucca and the wedding. The green theatre and its wooden model, which can still be seen today at the Villa Bernardini near Lucca, were built for this wedding. The SBN lists only two copies of this booklet, preserved in Lucca and Perugia. The same catalogue describes another booklet published on the same occasion: Per le felicissime nozze de' nobili e chiarissimi signori Francesco Bernardini e Anna Maria Parensi patrizj lucchesi rime (Lucca, Cappuri, 1740). Very fine and fresh velvet binding with metallic decoration. The arms not matching, the copy was probably placed in this binding. From the Maurice Burrus library (2018, II, n°185), acquired from Lauria in 1938.
