Large folio, brown half-chagrin with corners, spine decorated, gilt head, untrimmed (Period binding). First edition of this historical and archaeological description of Seine-et-Marne by Amédée Aufauvre (1817-1864).
Splendid illustration drawn and lithographed by the painter Charles Fichot (1817-1903) reproducing the department's religious, military and civil buildings. It comprises 99 plates out of text, 7 in colour and the others in black or two-tone, plus a fold-out map of Melun.
A fine copy, well bound at the time.
Sporadic marginal foxing; slight repairs to the binding.
