QUADRI (Antonio). Il Canal grande di Venezia, descritto e rappresentato in xxxxviii tavole. Venice, Tipografia armena di S. Lazzaro, 1838. Oblong folio, blue boards with title and black engraved illustration on each cover, smooth spine, orange title-piece, smooth edges (Publisher's binding). New edition of this rare collection of views of the Grand Canal in Venice by Antonio Quadri (1776-1849). It comes from the Armenian printing house established in 1789 on the island of San Lazzaro. The album includes a title vignette (a view of the Rialto Bridge engraved by Zuliani after Borsato), a plan of the Grand Canal by Moretti and 47 views drawn and engraved by Dionisio Moretti. A precious copy in publisher's boards in which the views of the Grand Canal and the title vignette have been delicately coloured at the time. From the Lorenzo Urbani library, with bookplate. Some marginal foxing, small marginal tear not missing on plates 35 and 37 (repaired). Corners and head of boards worn, some staining and soiling to boards.
