Léon Walras (1834-1910) was the first economist to attempt to model an economy in order to explain how prices are formed. His concept of general equilibrium, which he demonstrated mathematically on the basis of a single hypothesis - scarcity - led Schumpeter to call him "the greatest of all economists".
Walras expanded each of the four editions of his great treatise published between 1874 and 1900. This edition contains 5 folded plates.
