[SIMON (Jean-Baptiste). Le Gouvernement admirable, ou la république des abeilles. Avec les moyens d'en tirer une grande utilité. Paris, Thiboust, 1742. In-12, fawn calf, coat of arms in the centre, spine decorated, red edges (Binding of the period). Second edition, published two years after the original, of this interesting treatise on the life of bees. It is illustrated with a frontispiece and five folding plates engraved by Tardieu after Mazelin. A copy bearing the arms of Jean-François Chartraire de Montigny, councillor and then president of the Burgundy parliament in 1735, who died in 1760. His father, François Chartraire, comte de Montigny, treasurer general of the Burgundy States, left a large library. His son used the same armorial iron. Covers and corners restored.
