ENGELMANN (Godefroy). Theoretical and practical treatise on lithography. S.l.n.d. [Mulhouse, Engelmann père et fils ; Paris, J. Engelmann, 1839]. In-4, blue half-chagrin, smooth spine decorated (Modern binding). First edition of one of the rarest treatises on lithography, written by one of its pioneers, the inventor of chromolithography. It is illustrated with a portrait of the author by Tavernier, a chromolithographed title and, at the end of the volume, 50 single or fold-out technical plates, mainly showing lithographic tools and presses, all lithographed in black, except for the title and one plate in blue, by Engelmann in Mulhouse.
