Description
[HENRION (Mathieu)]. Handwritten diploma on parchment, signed by King Louis-Philippe and the Garde des Sceaux, dated Palais des Tuileries, 26 October 1838. Roll of calligraphic parchment decorated with a painted coat of arms, with a large green wax seal bearing the arms and profile of Louis-Philippe (diam. 12.5 cm) and a metal case (approx. 51 cm high) bearing the inscription: M. le Baron Henrion. Order confirming the hereditary title of baron and granting a coat of arms in favour of the magistrate Mathieu-Richard-Auguste Henrion (1805-1862), originally from Metz, who was a lawyer at the Court of Appeal in Paris, then a councillor at the Court of Aix-en-Provence, but is still known as a historian, author of numerous works and in particular a Cours complet d'histoire ecclésiastique continued after his death by Abbé Migne.
