HERON DE VILLEFOSSE René: La Rivière Enchantée, etchings by Foujita, Paris, Klein, 1951, one of only 15 copies numbered "H", a folio volume in cloth wrappers (pitting), some pitting in the outer margins of some leaves. This is the rarest and most sought-after of the books illustrated by Foujita, and may be considered the artist's most accomplished work. It was published to mark his 65th birthday. Our copy is complete with the 26 illustrations in black and colour (including portraits of Héron de Villefosse and Foujita) and the illustrated cover. Collation: one illustrated cover, 1 table of plates, false title and title plate, 110 pages for part no. and 1 plate for the completion of the printing. Browning or spotting in the outer margins on text leaves 31, 90 and 98, 101 and 109. Tiny pitting on the engraved portrait of Foujita, pitting on the outer margins of plates XXII and XVI.
