[Printed by Giambattista BODONI] De Imitatione Christi libri quatuor. Parmae, In Aedibus Palatinis typis Bodonianis, 1793. Large folio (425 x 292 mm), VII-(1)-311-(1) pp, Ex-libris of P. B. A. Aubaret pastedown. Bound in contemporary marbled calf, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt fleurons, cover framed with a triple fillet with a fleuron in the corners, interior roulette and on the edges, gilt edges. Binding in poor condition, headpieces missing, jaws cracked with traces of restoration, boards and cuts rubbed, leather missing from 3 corners, light freckling on the title page and a few leaves not serious. "This edition, of which 150 copies were printed and which opens with a beautiful dedication page addressed to Ludovico de Bourbon, son of Duke Ferdinand, may be considered one of Bodoni's most prestigious publications; in fact it was born to compete with the "De Imitatione Christi" which Didot had published four years earlier."
