DIDEROT - D'ALEMBERT Encyclopédie, ou dictionnaire raisonné des sciences et des métiers, par une société de gens de lettres. Genève, Neufchatel, Chez Jean-Léonard Pellet, Chez la Société Typographique, 1778-1779. 39 volumes in-4, comprising 36 vols. of text (including a frontispiece portrait of Diderot, 9 folding tables, at the end of vol. XXXVI: 1 f. and 1 pl. of clock-making and the ff. of additions to the first volumes) and 3 vols. for the plates comprising 140, 170 and 114 engraved leaves corresponding to the 194, 197 and 128 plates of the table. Bound in contemporary marbled calf, spine decorated with gilt panels, red and green title-pieces, red edges, a few damaged headpieces, usual rubbing, 1 plate detached and a few minor defects but the text and plates are in very good condition, handsome set.
