Paris, Veuve Estienne, 1740. 6 volumes in-4, frontispiece portrait of Rollin by C. Coypel, 13 folding maps with watercoloured outlines, 3 engraved plates and headbands. Contemporary binding in granite calf, spine decorated with gilt caissons, fillets on the edges, interior roulette, marbled edges. The finest edition of this early history by Rollin. A few rare freckles and stains mainly on the first few leaves, some leaves browned, small loss at the head of volume V, beginning of a split (1 cm) at the upper jaws of volumes III and IV, leather loss at the corners, overall a very fine copy.
