Longus. - Estampes des amours pastorales de Daphnis et Chloé engraved in 1718 and brought to light in 1724 by Charles Coypel, écuyer, peintre du roy, directeur des tableaux et de desseins du cabinet de Sa Majesté, premier peintre de son altesse monseigneur le duc d'Orléans. 1 vol. in-4 oblong, bound in full brown morocco, triple cold fillet, spine decorated (period binding). - Small stains and scratches on covers, corners pierced, one plate missing. - 28 plates engraved (out of 29) by Benoit 1er Audran after drawings by Charles Coypel. Coypel took over the original copperplates of the 1718 edition and had several collections of separate plates printed on strong Hollande paper after the Regent's death in 1723. 1 copy listed in the CCFR.
