Paris, Hetzel et Paulin, 1842-1844. 2 volumes in-4, in full romantic cloth with black background, spine faded to green, boards and spine decorated with gilt animal motifs (frogs, insects, turtle, monkey), gilt edges, yellow endpapers. Second edition copy. Volume I is missing 2 ff. in book 20 (pp. 155-158) with loss of one plate (p. 156); volume II is complete with text but plate 201 is missing. In total 94 h-t / 95 in T I and 102 h-t / 103 in T II (according to the table of illustrations in fine). Minor foxing.
