La Borde, Jean Benjamin de [1734-1794]. - A selection of songs set to music by M. de La Borde, Premier Valet-de-Chambre ordinaire du roi, Gouverneur du Louvre. Decorated with prints by J.M. Moreau, dedicated to Madame la Dauphine. Paris, chez de Lormel, 1773. 4 volumes bound in 2 large vol. in-8, in full contemporary seeded calf, boards decorated with a triple gilt fillet border, ornate spines, red morocco title-piece, fawn tomaison, double fillet on the edges, interior roulette, gilt edges - beginning of a split at the first bit of the first volume, and second bit split and glued back, beginning of a split at the first bit of the second volume, overall spotting. First edition, second printing (T II, p. 54, corrected error "un affreux serpent". Text and music engraved by Moria and Mlle Vendôme, portrait of the author engraved by Masquelier after Denon, dedication with engraved arms of Marie-Antoinette, title vignette, 3 title-frontispieces (T II- III- IV), and 100 plates hors-texte, engraved by Moreau, Masquelier and Née after Moreau, Le Bouteux, Le Barbier and Saint-Quentin. The portrait of the author engraved in 1774, is a supplement found in some copies, including ours. Interior in good condition, good printing of the engravings.
