Oblong folio album, laced cloth containing : - 2 handwritten colour maps of the voyage of the Albatros drawn by Grosourdy. - 1 large folding map printed 06/1855 "Stanford's new map of Sebastopol", giving the position of the French and English allied troops around Sebastopol. - 1 folio map giving the positions of the allied armies in front of Sebastopol, by A.H. Dufour in 1855 (coloured parts). - 4 large-format lithographs (Toulon, boats, Messina). - Approximately 100 drawings in black pencil or in colour (seascapes, landscapes, types, street scenes, port scenes, scenes on ships, views of Sicily, Messina, the Dardanelles, Constantinople, convicts, loading in port, etc.). - 26 watercolours or gouaches (seascapes, landscapes, types, scenes of port activity, etc.), including a large gouache depicting the guardhouse at night in the port. - 50 photographs on salted paper, mostly pale, depicting military scenes and camps, buildings and landscapes. James Robertson, the famous British war photographer, signed 19 of them in pen, but it seems likely that others were his own work. There are around 150 Robertson photographs covering the Crimean War. - Letter on headed paper from the Ministry of the Navy, signed by Admiral Hamelin, informing the Inspector General of Bridges and Roads, Mr Avril, that he had asked the Maritime Prefect in Toulon to admit his nephew, Mr de St Pierre, on the Albatross which was leaving for the Bosphorus (15/05/1856). - Passport issued to M. de St Pierre by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, countersigned by the Ottoman embassy in Paris (21/05/1856). We learn that Mr de St Pierre is a pensioner and 34 years old.
