[MODERN ILLUSTRATED] LOUYS (Pierre)/BRUNELLESCHI] The Adventures of King Pausole, Paris, l’Estampe moderne, 1930 A quarto volume in full blue morocco, ribbed spine, gilt title, decorated with a crown and cherries, covers adorned with gilt fillets and cherries (binding signed in the margin of the back cover), in a slipcase of 324 pages. Edition illustrated with 17 colour plates (including nine inset plates) by Bruneschelli, engraved by Gorvel and coloured using stencils by Saudé. One of 450 numbered copies printed on Arches laid paper (no. 140). A very fine binding (signed but indecipherable; see photographs) featuring this reference to the cherry tree under which Pausole dispenses justice. Slipcase damaged and crudely restored. Interior in fresh condition.
