Dedicated to Monseigneur de Nicolay, First President, by Mademoiselle Denys, heraldist of the Chamber, Paris, published by the author and Grange, bookseller, 1769 A quarto volume in full calfskin, smooth spine, gilt decoration with title label: (14), CXLIJ, 87 pages. First edition. Volume One (the only one published), containing the Presidents. The work is illustrated with copper-engraved and coloured coats of arms and six separate plates: two black-and-white plates before the title page depicting a heraldic motif and the coat of arms of the King of France and Navarre; the arms of the Nicolaÿ family as a frontispiece, in black for the first part and watercoloured for the second; two plates illustrating heraldic principles in the Preface. Some damage to the headbands, with some leather missing. Edges rubbed. Slight loss on the title page. Colours preserved. Rare.
