A paperback quarto volume with an illustrated cover, comprising 207 pages.
Stated as the second edition, published one year after the Courrières mining disaster (10 March 1906), in which over 1,000 miners died as a result of the collapse of the tunnels. Edition illustrated with 15 lithographs by Steinlen (separate from the text) and vignettes. The text and illustrations are very dark. Cover damaged. Head and tail caps worn away.
