REVOLUTION – EMPIRE: BALLEYDIER (A). A Political and Military History of the People of Lyon during the French Revolution. (1789–1795). Paris, Curmer, 1845. 3 volumes, large 8vo, green half-shagreen, spines decorated with raised bands highlighted by gilt fillets, gilt Phrygian caps, gilt edges (binding from the second half of the 19th century). Spine faded, caps and raised bands slightly rubbed, some foxing, occasionally more pronounced. Illustrated with a frontispiece (the coat of arms of the city of Lyon) and 29 out-of-text engravings by various Lyon-based artists. This copy is without the fold-out map of besieged Lyon published in 1844, which is often missing.
