Description
(Manuscript). ALEXANDRE (Arsène, 1859–1937), journalist and art historian. Complete ink manuscript on the painter TINTORET (untitled). 64 pages divided into chapters, plus 6 pages of bibliography and a list of the main paintings exhibited in museums or public buildings, beginning with Chapter 1 (boxed) ‘From the childhood of Venice to the birth of Tintoretto’. In-4 (27x21 cm), dated 27 April 1925, signed at the ‘twenty-third hour’. Deletions and corrections. Enclosed: Two manuscripts (unsigned) by HALLYS (André, 1859–1930), art historian and member of the Commission des monuments historiques. Four pages in-8 (23.5x18.5 cm) on the architect Germain Boffrand and five pages on the architect Jacques-François Blondel. He published numerous works and articles, including in the *Journal des Débats*, as well as in the *Revue des deux mondes* and other specialist journals.
