Paris, Firmin Didot et Cie, 1880–1881; two large quarto volumes (38×31 cm), red half-shagreen (slight scuffing), covers in red grained percaline adorned with gilt metalwork in a large Egyptian-style frame and illustrated with a felucca on the Nile, sphinxes and pyramids; smooth, decorated spine; gilt edges. VI-388 pages-VI-432 pages. Richly illustrated both within and outside the text, including two colour maps of Upper and Lower Egypt. Binding by Engel, decoration by Souze.
