- LEMERCIER DE NEUVILLE (Louis). Théâtre des Pupazzi. Lyon, N. Scheuring, 1876; 8vo (22x15 cm), red morocco (front cover scuffed), triple gilt fillet on covers, raised spine, 4 small central oval circles in black mosaic, decorated with small gilt ironwork, between the raised bands, green morocco panels: author-title, city-date, wide gilt fillet framing the endpapers, gilt edges. Decorated front cover (XXVI-411-(3) pages. Portrait, 18 vignettes published in 1866 and 1869. Lemercier de Neuville was a French puppeteer, journalist, columnist, playwright and storyteller (1830–1918); in 1860 he created a portable puppet theatre, depicting famous contemporary figures by caricaturing them as cardboard characters. Binding by Masson-Debonelle.
