(The Great War, two volumes). *Journal Illustration*, from Saturday 8 August 1914 to 30 January 1915 (maps of the Argonne to Nancy, the Oise to the Argonne, and the coast to the Oise). One folio volume (40x31 cm), decorated vellum with flaps, spine and covers. Front cover decorated with an original (unsigned) pen-and-coloured-ink drawing, a screaming Gorgon’s head dripping with blood, surmounted by a German helmet and eagle, burning monuments with the names of the bombed towns: Tournay, Reims, Ypres and Arras; plain spine decorated with a sword; pen and brush on the back cover.
