In-8°, comprising lxxj, [1], 532 pp. in fawn half-basane, plain spine with decorative lettering, gilt title, lemon-coloured edges. (Contemporary binding). 6th edition of this classic work on obstetrics, preceded by a note on the late author, complete with all 30 plates; copy signed by the author’s widow. BAUDELOCQUE popularised the use of forceps, advocated caesarean section, and demonstrated the link between infection and infertility following childbirth. He established obstetrics as a scientific discipline. Some foxing, a few minor tears to the plates, binding rubbed.
