Description
BEAUPOIL DE SAINT-AULAIRE (Martial Louis de, Bishop of Poitiers). *Missale Pictaviense*. Poitiers, Faulcon, 1767. Folio, 24, xxxviij, 614, cxxiv pp. Text in two columns, framed by a frontispiece engraved by Baquoy after Dumont, with one large insert plate engraved by the same artist after Bloemaert. Fawn sheepskin, spine with 5 decorated raised bands, title page in green morocco, red edges. (Early 19th-century binding). An impressive Poitiers missal. Strips of cloth, heavily worn or frayed, were glued in at the time to serve as markers. Very good impressions of the two large engravings. Binding very rubbed, title label partly detached. Interior fresh, which is unusual. A good copy.
