First edition of Christoph Weigel’s illustrated Bible, a collection of 825 engravings (4 per folio, rarely 3, on the front side only) depicting scenes or themes drawn from the Bible, from both the Old and New Testaments. The engravings are accompanied by short epigrams or inscriptions relating to the events depicted, in Latin and German. With a frontispiece and a full-page engraving; the title pages have been preserved. The engravings are in very fresh condition. Minor foxing, not affecting the engravings; a few rare spots of foxing. A fine copy.
