(Contemporary binding). 4th edition of this classic of 18th-century medical literature. HEISTER (1683–1758), anatomist and surgeon, is regarded as the founder of scientific surgery in Germany, Large vignette on the title page and 40 large plates out of the text depicting surgical instruments and various operations. The author’s portrait on the frontispiece is missing. Some foxing; headbands worn down, wear to the corners.
