Description
Hours of Queen Blanche, with a note on her life; the principal services for Sundays and feast days, in Latin and French. Paris, Alexis Eymery, 1818. In-12, [10] leaves, 240 pp. 6 gr. on c. (including the title page) by JOHANNOT after DESENNE. Ivory silk, long decorated spine, gilt title, broad romantic gilt border on the covers, gilt initials on the upper cover, gilt scrolls on the fillets and chases, silver-coloured endpapers, gilt edges. (Contemporary binding). Queen Blanche is Blanche of Castile, mother of Saint Louis. A fine copy, bearing the initials ‘I. C.’ on the upper cover, and ‘I. D.’ with the date 15 June 1871 on the flyleaf. From the libraries of Paul TOINET, with his colour-engraved coat-of-arms bookplate, and of the heraldist Paul ADAM-EVEN (1902–1964), with his bookplate engraved by R. LOUIS. Some scuffing to the binding; endpapers replaced. An elegant copy.
