Blue half-percaline publisher’s binding in the Bradel style, gilt title on the spine, upper cover bearing the title, illustrated in colour depicting a radiant Louis XIV in ceremonial robes on his harnessed and decked-out horse, red head (contemporary binding). 40 colour chromotypogravures in the text by Maurice LELOIR, including 32 full-page and 2 double-page plates, accompanied by a table of plates and an appendix containing explanatory notes on the plates at the end of the volume. Caps and tail corners slightly worn; sun-faded streaks on the lower cover. A fine copy.
