Mottled fawn calfskin, spine with 5 raised bands and floral decoration, title page in fawn morocco, gilt fillet on the edges, edges marbled blue. (Contemporary binding). 4th edition, revised and corrected, complete with its three fold-out plates. LEVRET, who was the obstetrician to Madame LA DAUPHINE, invented a new type of forceps, the ‘mechanical hook for extracting the child from the womb’, a description of which is provided here.
