MIRABEAU (Honoré Gabriel Riquetti, Count of). First Memorandum to be consulted by the Count of Mirabeau, against the Marquis of Monnier. No place or date, 1782. In-8°, 220, 99 pp. Paperback, temporary cover. Preserved in a half-fawn calfskin cardboard slipcase, smooth spine with decorative gold embossing, title page in burgundy morocco, matching slipcase.
‘One of the few copies distributed by Mirabeau to the magistrates presiding over the trial; he corrected it in his own hand in ink’ (53 corrections), annotated in pencil by a Parisian bookseller, who signed his name.
MIRABEAU was on trial in connection with the abduction of the Marquise de MONNIER.
