Third edition, revised and expanded, of this unofficial history of the Council of Trent. It earned the translator of the work, the historian Nicolas Amelot de La HOUSSAYE (1634–1706), a reprimand for his notes questioning the Pope’s authority.
Handwritten bookplate on the title page: ‘Montmollin’ and ‘Pasteur’.
