In-4°, 318 pp., Jansenist red morocco, spine with 5 faux-nerves, gilt title, gilt fillet on the edges, five-fold gilt fillet on the endpapers, gilt head, front cover preserved, slipcase edged with red morocco (Magnier). 92 compositions engraved with a burin by Albert Decaris, comprising 37 plates, 26 initials, 28 end-piece illustrations and one vignette. Limited edition of 316 copies; this is no. 262 of the 216 printed on Holland paper. Includes, bound at the end, the original 4-page prospectus written by MONTHERLANT. Spine very slightly faded. A fine copy in a signed binding.
