BEDEL (Maurice). [JACQUEMIN (André)]. Geography of a Thousand Hectares. No place, Manuel Brucker, [1954]. In-4°, 127 pp. Unbound sheets, cover illustrated with a drypoint, ochre cardboard slipcase with title on the spine, matching case. Remarkable drypoint engravings by André JACQUEMIN. Printed in an edition of 370 copies; this is one of the 120 ‘Hors-Commerce’ copies reserved for the ‘Beaux-Livres - Grands Amis’ society, with a dedication by the author on the half-title page: ‘To Mr Marius Chapuis, who was the thoughtful driving force behind this fine book, with my heartfelt thanks. M. Bedel’. Includes a facsimile of a letter from Maurice BEDEL, the lunch menu from 4 April 1954 on the occasion of the book’s presentation, adorned with a drypoint engraving, with an autograph dedication by the author: ‘To Mr Marius Chapuis, in memory of the delightful hours I spent, thanks to him, on a spring’s day in Épinal. M. Bedel, 4 April 1954. ’, together with the speech ‘Propos et A-Propos’ delivered at the ‘Beaux Livres Grands Amis’ gathering on that occasion, and a set of four engravings and the copper plate used for the engraving on p. 61.
