Oblong 8vo, 45 pp. Publisher’s cardboard binding illustrated with a large colour composition spanning both covers, cream endpapers with floral decoration, and a beige paper dust jacket illustrated in the Art Nouveau style.
A very fine edition of this eight-scene play, first performed at the Théâtre Antoine on 7 April 1898, illustrated by Henri RIVIÈRE with nine colour illustrations, including a large one for both covers of the hardback, a large title vignette and seven insert illustrations. The title lettering, the endpaper design, the stamps and fleurons were drawn by the Art Nouveau artist George AURIOL.
A fine and rare copy with its very rare dust jacket (which has a few small marginal tears).
