In-4°, 141 pp. Unbound sheets, cream-coloured illustrated cover with filled-in design, ivory-coloured cardboard slipcase, black title on the spine, slipcase. Portrait, initials and headpieces wood-engraved by Léon MASSON. Printed in a run of 430 copies; this one is no. 249 of 370 on Johannot’s Faya pure-thread paper. Some damage to the slipcase. Included: *Le Ménagier de Paris*. A treatise on morality and home economics. Compiled in 1393 by a Parisian bourgeois. Preface by Pierre Gaxotte. Paris, Chavane, [edition reserved for Crédit Lyonnais]. 1961. 2 octavo volumes, paperback + a folding map, the set contained in a full-cloth slipcase imitating an antique tapestry. The first volume reproduces the edition in Gothic type, illustrated with numerous woodcuts; the second, the translation into modern French. In a matching slipcase is a large folding map of Paris: the one drawn by Olivier TRUSCHET and Germain HOYAU around 1550.
