In-4°, 152 pp. Loose-leaf, white cover with flaps, brown slipcase, title on spine, matching case. 12 engravings, each by a different artist: LOISELET, ASSADOUR, BLITZ, COUTAUD, GERARDIAZ, GARAUD, GROSCHENE, MOREH, POTIER, SCHWEITZER, STEPHANIE, VIOT. Taking a criminal court case as his theme, Marcel PROUST parodies such great writers as BALZAC, FLAUBERT, SAINTE-BEUVE, RÉGNIER, GONCOURT, MICHELET, FAGUET, RENAN and SAINT-SIMON, “each in the language of their own time”. Printed in an edition of 160 copies on Lana paper, this copy (no. 81) was printed for Jean POPELIN, enhanced with Michel VIOT’s copper engraving on p. 117. With the menu for the dinner of 29 February 1972, adorned with an original engraving by COUTAUD.
