Description
SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI. [DUSSARTHOU (A.)]. The Fioretti of Saint Francis of Assisi. Paris, Club du Livre, 1966. Large 8vo, 226 pp. Fawn sheepskin, spine with 5 false ribs, gilt title, covers and spine cold-stamped in the style of 16th-century decoration, copper clasps, gilt head, with a matching half-fawn sheepskin slipcase. Copy no. 144 of 300 on Holland paper. The first volume comprises the text of the *Fioretti*, illuminated by A. DUSSARTHOU, with translation and notes by R. JACQUIN based on the Cesari edition (Verona, 1922), preceded by a study by M. GANDILLAC. Accompanied by the ‘Publication Dossier’, comprising 63 pages of commentary, a series of colour illuminations and a dossier on the successive stages of the illustrations. Preserved in a fawn half-basane leather slipcase, which fits into a compartment within the outer slipcase.
