In-4°, 117 pp. Unbound, illustrated cover with a pasted-in insert, slipcase in marbled fawn half-basane, spine with 4 faux ribs, gilt title, salmon-coloured cloth on the covers decorated in red with a design by STEINLEN (Bernard Duval, Paris). Frontispiece and illustrations in the text, including 20 colour copperplate engravings, watercoloured and signed by STEINLEN. Limited edition of just over 152 copies; this is one of the few personalised, unnumbered copies reserved for the artist, bearing STEINLEN’s autograph inscription: ‘Printed for Madame Eliane Mahut. Steinlen. ’ Enriched with an original watercolour on the reverse of the half-title page, with an autograph dedication by the artist: ‘To Eliane Mahut, in tribute. Steinlen’. Also included, in an identical slipcase, is an original signed watercolour drawing, a set of 20 drypoint engravings on ‘mustard’ paper from the Larroque mill, and a set of headbands and footers on Arches vellum. Spine faded, a few very slight marks on the covers. A very fine set.
