An identical, deluxe facsimile of the edition published by Didot the Elder in 1825. Printed in a run of only 500 copies; this is no. XCIII of the 150 copies A bibliophile’s edition, including a set of 40 separately printed engravings in a slipcase, enhanced with two colour engravings: ‘View of the carved gateway at Besançon upon entering the town’ (p. 104), no. 29/45 and ‘The village of Les Barraques, homes of the Franche-Comté charcoal burners’ (p. 125), no. 40/45. A tear in the slipcase; a very fine copy.
