41- SET OF 3 ‘MERCURE GALANT’ Paris, 1687–1689. 3 volumes in-16. A collection of three early issues of the famous periodical founded by Donneau de Visé, comprising the issues of January 1687, May 1687 and August 1689. Title pages adorned with the publication’s characteristic engraved coat of arms. The set is illustrated with four folding plates, three of which are in the January 1687 volume and one in the May 1687 volume. Full contemporary brown sheepskin, ribbed spine decorated with gilt metal fittings. The bindings are scuffed, with a few tears to the spines and three damaged cap bands. The interiors are in fair condition overall. An interesting set of three volumes of the 17th-century *Mercure Galant*, preserved in their original bindings.
