69- [BOUGAINVILLE (Louis-Antoine de)]: ‘Voyage round the World, aboard the King’s frigate La Boudeuse and the flute L’Étoile, in 1766, 1767, 1768 & 1769.’ Published in Neuchâtel by the Société Typographique, 1775. 2 volumes in one in-12 format (complete for this edition, excluding the supplementary volume). Explanation of nautical terms in Volume I. Vocabulary of the island of Tahiti and observations at the end of Volume II. Contemporary marbled sheepskin binding (some scuffing). Ribbed spine decorated with floral motifs and a title label (damaged cap ends). Satisfactory condition overall. An 18th-century edition of this famous account of the first French circumnavigation.
