Description
185 – PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLY OF HAUTE-GUYENNE: ‘Minutes of the sessions of the Provincial Assembly of Haute-Guienne, held at Villefranche in September and October 1779. With the King’s permission.” In Villefranche-de-Rouergue, from the Press of Verdeilhié, the King’s Printer, 1780. Small quarto, paperback. VIII, 251 pages. Grey contemporary cover. A few stains affecting the lower margin of several leaves. Cover slightly faded, cap bands damaged. Satisfactory condition overall. FIRST EDITION of the minutes of the first session of the Provincial Assembly of Haute-Guyenne, an institution established in 1779. Convened in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, this assembly was tasked, in particular, with examining issues relating to taxation, agriculture, trade, public works and the administration of the province. This document thus constitutes a document of the utmost importance regarding the experiments in administrative and fiscal reform that preceded the French Revolution.
