The first volume contains the text in two parts (with a corner loss on the half-title page of the second part). The second volume is the atlas containing the frontispiece by De Sève and the 180 plates, all coloured at the time. 19th-century full red morocco. Triple gilt fillets framing the covers. Ribbed spine decorated with floral motifs. Gilt roulette on the inside of the covers. Gilded edges. AN EXTREMELY RARE and SUPERB FIRST EDITION of this famous botanical work on fruit trees by Duhamel du Monceau, featuring colour plates – a truly exceptional feature.
