477- BERTALL (Charles Albert d’Arnoux, known as): ‘Les Communeux. Types – Characters – Costumes’. Gotschlack, Paris and London, 1871. A very complete in-4 album of the 34 colour plates by BERTALL. Publisher’s illustrated cardboard binding, decorated on the covers. Binding worn: a tear of approximately 5 cm at the top spine, split headbands, worn corners. Most of the plates are in fine condition with well-preserved colours. FIRST EDITION of this important, satirical and contemporary pictorial account of the Paris Commune, published as early as 1871.
