Paris, Ladvocat, 1829. 10 volumes in-8, half-cub-coloured calf with corner pieces, smooth spines decorated with a coat of arms and the initials F.C. (contemporary binding). FIRST EDITION of these memoirs, which caused a sensation upon their publication. They have been in constant use by historians of Napoleon ever since (Tulard, 211). The title page and the bookseller’s notice (4 leaves) of the first volume are photocopies. One volume is missing a section at the bottom of the spine and there are minor defects. ED
