Description
LOIRE MINES OF SAINT-ÉTIENNE and the surrounding region between 1828 and 1892. A collection of around twenty documents relating to the mines, including: a copy of the prefectural extract concerning the Béraudière Coal Mine in 1828, authorising the opening of a new mining area within their concession. There is also a document relating to a dispute following a request for assistance from the Roche La Molière Mine in Firminy. A report of an accident in 1892 at the Beaubrun Mine in the Chatelus shaft, plus a report from 1893 detailing how a miner was injured in the hip following an explosion. There are also several receipts from the mines at Unieux, Le Cros and Roche-la-Molière. Tunisian Expeditionary Corps: two letters, one two pages long and the other four pages long, from Lieutenant Montaigu, Head of the Intelligence Service; one dated Gafsa, 23 November 1882, and the other dated Ain -Draham on 15 December 1883, both addressed to Saint-Étienne regarding the purchase of weapons following a request from General Philebert. The first letter is a request to purchase 20 double-barrelled centre-fire rifles at a price of 110 to 120 francs.
