Paris, Rue et Hôtel Serpente, 1781. 2 vols. in-8, [2]-4-493 and [2]-476-[4] pages, marbled sheepskin, decorated raised-rib spine, red edges (contemporary binding). FIRST EDITION. Sigaud de La Fond (1730–1810), a follower of Abbé Nollet, was a teacher at the Collège Louis le Grand and a pioneer in the field of experimental physics. Some of his work, together with that of Macquer, inspired Lavoisier’s research. Bindings slightly worn, head pieces missing (Barbier I, 968). ED
