[FAUR (Louis-François)]. THE PRIVATE LIFE OF MARSHAL DE RICHELIEU, detailing his love affairs and intrigues. Paris, Buisson, 1791. 3 vols. in-8, marbled sheepskin, plain spine (contemporary binding). First edition compiled by Mr Faur, former secretary to the Duke of Fronsac. ‘It is claimed that the third volume, which contains the story of Madame Michelin, is entirely the invention of Mr Faur’ (Gay III, 1351). Bindings rubbed and damaged. Also included: - [SAINT-SIMON (Duke of)]. GALERIE DE L’ANCIENNE COUR, or anecdotal memoirs to serve the history of the reigns of Louis XIV and Louis XV. No place, no publisher, 1786. 3 vols. in-12, marbled sheepskin, decorated ribbed spine, red edges (contemporary binding). First edition of these extracts from the memoirs of the Duke of Saint-Simon, apparently edited by Soulavie. (Tchémerzine, V, p. 157). Bindings damaged, pages browned. SET OF 6 VOLUMES. ED
