LE JEU DES ESCHETS, translated from the Italian by Giochino Greco Calabrois. Paris, Le Febure, 1689. Small in 12 full contemporary binding with ornate ribbed spine. One corner a little damaged, otherwise binding in good and solid condition. Small wormholes in lower margin, not serious, and one light wet spot, not serious. Uncommon French second edition. Gioachino Greco, known as the Calabrian, was the most famous player of the 17th century, and arrived at the French Court in 1621. After Paris he went to London, and from Madrid he sailed for the West Indies, where he died in 1634.
